Some video clips of the last Panzer Unit's.

Notice, what looks to be a Bergepanther at 2:47.

Quote... On 17 January 1945, two Jagdtigers used by XIV Corps engaged a bunker line in support of infantry near Auenheim. On 18 January, they attacked four secure bunkers at 1,000 meters. The armored cupola of one bunker burned out after two shots. A Sherman attacking in a counter-thrust was set afire by explosive shells. The total combat included 46 explosive shells and 10 anti-tank shells, with no losses to the Jagdtigers.

During April 1945, s.Pz.Jäg.Abt.512 saw a great deal of action, especially on 9 April, where the 1st company engaged an Allied column of Sherman tanks and trucks from hull-down positions, and destroyed 11 tanks and over 30 unarmored or lightly armored targets, with some of the enemy tanks having been knocked out from a distance of more than 4,000 m. The combat unit only lost one Jagdtiger in this incident as Allied ground attack P-47 fighters appeared. During the next couple of days, the 1st company destroyed a further five Sherman tanks before having to surrender at Iserlohn. Meanwhile, the 2nd company still fought on, but with little result. On 15 April 1945, the unit surrendered at Schillerplatz in Iserlohn without fighting.

USA troops did a good job! They didn't rush in the mad attack. Carius remembers that American soldiers were always called a support: avia/artillery. Thus - they don't spare their life as the Soviet did. Though, Carius was not a good attitude abt. American skill in the battle. Don't know why. Perhaps he thought as many soldiers were killed as more brave they were. This is smth. wrong, imo.

My own thoughts, there were many told & untold stories of bravery on all sides of WWII. Many were there to fight & protect the values they believed in and for the defense of their country, homes and families. Many more were caught up as the causalities of the war, both civilian and military.

Although the Soviet's did use "Human Wave" type attacks early in the war, I believe that many of their loses, especially in the early years were caused by the liquidation of the Soviet high command by Stalin with his "Great Purges during the 30's. Thus many of the 1941-42 Soviet forces were poorly trained and were lacking in leadership on the battlefields.

Quotes from Erwin Rommel & George S. Patton...

"Sweat saves blood, blood saves lives, and brains saves both."

“No dumb bastard ever won a war by going out and dying for his country. He won it by making some other dumb bastard die for his country.”

A Panther tank video clip that contains some combat footage.

Believe that these screenshots from the video were filmed during the last battles in 1945 around Berlin.

Quote... Captain W.J. Hadlow REME instructed the completion of 9 Panthers and 12 Jagdpanthers, some like the one abandoned one one Pirbright Firing ranges lacked guns and mountings.

In May 1945 German industry was running out of everything including paint. The camouflage pattern you are looking on this Panther at Bovington Tank Museum is in fact read undercoat with a hasty camouflage pattern added from whatever leftover paint they had in their storeroom.

Also these screenshots from the video clip could be filmed during the fighting in the battles in Hungry 1944-45, IV SS Panzer Corps, 5 SS Panzer Division, Wiking.
