SABOW has many improvements as a tanksim over SF, so it's understandable the developers choose to work on that platform. And because the engine is now the GTOS one, it's not surprising if SABOW develops as GTOS has done.

FWIW I would much prefer SABOW to offer more 1970s-1980s, Cold War tank combat. Minor WW2 theatres or yet more Barbarossa stuff won't much interest me. If it's to be WW2, well it's about time they did Normandy or Western Desert, regardless of whatever national sympathies may be involved. It didn't happen with GTOS so likely not with SABOW DLC either.

If/when they go WW2, even with imported content from GTOS, SABOW will be a long time catching up on SF, for those wanting to play that period. Especially if it's more difficult for a mod community to add maps, missions and objects.

Well the 1941-42 period could be very interesting as we would have great tanks like the KV-1 series and KV-2, the T34 , T60, T26, T70,BTs etc and the Panzer III J, L, Panzer II , Panzer IV F1 and F2, the Stug, Panzerjaeger and many other interesting vehicles. Even the Tiger made it`s first appearance in late 1942... The desert war with good maps and the East front and possibly Italy would be awesome. Unlike many others, I have little interest in Normandy or the Western front because the air power part played a major role which either if we have it as it was the game will be one-sided and it would require a real horse of a game engine as air assets tend to be tough on fps.

Panzer Elite does a great job of Normandy with no air presence at all. Which is fine since in real life,'air' mostly made its presence felt by blowing the crap out of the landscape before an attack or shooting up troops or trucks in rear areas, rarely participating in actual combats between troops and armour. Besides, tactical air power on the Ostfront was no less prominent, for example the Luftwaffe's role in the Second Battle of Kharkov, the very one SF is built around.

Yes the Ostfront is one natural home for a tanksim or WW22 wargame but it's been, if not done to death, had lots of coverage and it's time we saw Western Desert and NW Europe getting a look-in. Felt the same about Il-2 while it was largely stuck on the Ostfront, but it's a very different matter, now the modders have expanded it so widely, even Nachtjager and Defence of the Reich against large formations of viermots and Battle of Britain have good campaigns, as well as Western Desert.

What was great with T-60? In fact, it wasn't tank. It was tankette/ersatz-tank. Same story with T-70. Soviet had to produce this tank (2nd place after T-34), coz it had benzine engine and was cheaper in production. T-26 didn't show worth at any, except the war with Finland.
Well, of course these tanks must be presented if u make a game devoted to 41-42 period, like "SF" , but as my point these tanks weren't remarkable if we compare them to Panther or JS-2.

I'd say the great tank from those period was T-40! It was remarkable tank from the future(completely new hull, individual torsion suspension). There was no analogue in the world. On the base of this tank was made T-60 and T-70.

Just picked this up yesterday in Steam sale. I assume these DLCs are dead?
