Re: Name this game
This wouldn't be one of the early Arma games? Armed Assault? Although I seem to remember that you are a fan of air sims. Could it a modded air sim?

Re: Name this game
Donken, you are incredible! Yes, the game is SpinTires, the sexiest game I've ever played. It's about hauling gargantuan loads on impossible terrain with humonguous trucks. Reminds me of the 1977 movie Sorcerer, based on the 1953 movie Wages of Fear. I think the remake is better, gave me many nights of nightmares as a kid.

Much better! Rain, mud, oil, sweat, nitroglycerin and Tangerine Dream - what a mix
...and - of course - this scene on the bridge...
What a shame that this gem of a movie is almost forgotten...

Re: Name this game
Spin Tires?????
Had to Google it .Never heard of it! Here's what it says on Steam:
Spintires is an Intel award winning off-road driving experience designed to challenge the player's driving skill and endurance.
Take responsibility of operating large all-terrain Soviet vehicles and venture across the rugged landscapes with only a map and compass to guide you. Explore the levels and unlock portions of the map whilst discovering new trucks, fuelling stations, garages and lumber mills.
Collect lumber with the crane attachments and try to deliver them to the objectives. Try not to damage your vehicle or consume all of the fuel, prior to completing the objectives. Use the surroundings to your advantage, you may need to winch yourself free!
The real-time deformable terrain will challenge even the most seasoned offroader. Do you accept the challenge?
It sells for $25.00.......

I suspect it has something to do with Star Wars.Stah wrote:Technopiper wrote:I think the remake is better

Re: Name this game
I usually don't play driving sims but SpinTires has a Spartan rigorosity that I find very attractive. It was 75% off on BundleStars only 2 weeks ago.

Re: Name this game
There are many mods for this made by the players. Can change wheels and they have light vehicles also.

Re: Name this game
Can this be played anywhere besides Steam? I have the demo and some of the mods, but not crazy about Steam even though I have a lot of games there.

Re: Name this game
I am not sure if it's Steam exclusive. Check the developers webpage. You can buy the game straight from them so may be if you play SP only you don't need Steam? Like you I distrust Steam and never use it. I only have 3 games mostly old which I rarely play. |I can deal with Ubiplay and Origin but Steam no.

Re: Name this game
I seem to remember seeing you could buy the disc, but will have to look. Steam just has to much gobley goop and likes to download updates in the background, plus a lot of other stuff that has no place here. It is a shame so many games are tied to it. Like RO2.
I have GOG, Origin, and Uplay/Ubisoft, they aren't bad. We need new tank games.

Re: Name this game
What is to be distrusted with Steam? Updates can be disabled so that they only happen when you want them too. You can easily and quickly adjust privacy settings, (unlike FB) and you don't need to enter into the social media aspect of it. I'm unaware of any other "stuff" that Steam does that is objectionable.
It's really no different than buying from any other streaming outlet like GOG etc.

Re: Name this game
I have over 1690 gig of games on Steam, just tired of all the way it works. yes i know I can turn off the updates, I have to everytime I log in when they get stable of course their downloads go all over the scale from 5 bit to 600 Mb. I guess I could just go vanilla with them and go straight to the game . I still play RO2 and Project Cars, Racing Room, Automobilista, Rally Dirt, Race 07,Assetto Corsa, and a few others there so its not like I don't go there. Just want a simple interface, like Armored Warfare, but without mail.ru. That is why I came here to begin with, searching for more tank games that aren't like WOT.
Has to be a good one out there that isn't pay to win or 20 years old, or cost $150.00. Maybe I am looking for the impossible, or I'm blind.

Re: Name this game
SO you are enjoying Steel Fury? No Steam, no WOT not WT just a plain simple WW2 tanksim.
