Sorry but I cannot sympathize with these Islamic terrorists.

That being said all these donkeys can repeat is Allahu Akbar!

We see a crew member leaving the tank.

T-90's ERA works well!!! ...no penetration, gunner forgot he left the stove on at home!!  ...his hatch was always open? might have knock out (not dead) commander/driver, gunner wasn't going to stick around for more rocket attacks! The only thing here to see is the money made selling them the tank and the money made from the TOW system!

How do you know there was no penetration and that the commander was not dead from that video? I would think they would have backed that tank up if it was not disabled.

Watching the video again it's hard to say whether it's been penetrated or not. It's fairly short range but I would tend to believe that it was only disabled not penetrated. Otherwise flames would have shot up from the hatch which would have been pushed upwards.

Yeah, my point is that you can't tell what happened just by watching the video. So you can't conclusively say that there was or was not penetration or disablement of the crew by that missile. All you can really say is that one guy sure wanted out of there fast.

This frontal turret projection has a very thick armor. Suppose, rocket didn't penetrate the armor, but effected crew with a "strike wave" through the opened hatch.

I don't know. Just a guess. Odds. There might not have been anyone but him in there, the other crew were screwing a goat behind the wall or the engine was shut off and only the APU powering it, out of fuel/ammo or broke down. The video was cut off too soon, maybe the commander using his palm switch (override) slewed and shot back at the TOW or it did drive away and the gunner got executed for leaving his post. It's pretty much propaganda. Smile

The gunner seemed to be in the direct line of the TOW strike, but despite his hatch being left open, he got out, likely affected by the blast of the warhead and the ERA. Looks like the ERA did the job, whether or not the TOW had the latest tandem charge warhead.

I thought the T-90's Shtora electro-optical jamming system was supposed to be able to deal with ATGW attacks like this but despite the two 'dazzlers' being pointed more or less directly at the firing point, it looks like no defensive reaction was triggered.

Russia in Syria Empty TOW missile and T-90 tank

Post by Tanker Thu Mar 31, 2016 5:19 am

A while ago there was a clip of anti-Syrian Government forces launching a TOW missile against a Russian T-90.  I can't find it now but here is some more info about the incident, for what it's worth.
