Then distance is not range then!

I think in some cases the two terms are interchangeable.  Certainly when you set the range scale on the sight to the distance you've estimated, then range equals distance.  At that point the mathematical value of distance is the same as mathematical value of range.

But you are correct.  They are two different concepts.

I was just confused by your original statement (below in colored text) that you added distance + range.

Not only you need to dial the distance, but you also need to add the range!

In the 10th picture, starting counting on the first top left as the #1 (if you can blow it up), you will see a message on the top right hand side of the screen that GHWY killed  a PZIV at such distance. Then check the reticle on the same pic, that distance is dialed in + range.

I could not see how you would arrive at that since range and distance are complimentary, not additive.  Range and distance are never added.

I write sometimes as I speak.

Many times do I raise my voice at my partner driving a T-34 (I am the TC), and after giving the info  for him to calculate the distance and range, I ask him "Gimme the range dam'it" as I am in a hurry. Yeah, "dam'it" is not his callsign!

What I am really asking is the range adjustment.

So, when I talk range to people who have been in the Tank sim for 20 years and as they do with me, we re-establish automatically in our minds, in the flow of the conversation, what is what.

It becomes a bad habit to yell in a microphone compressed info, when that spills into your posting habits. I agree!

This is still fun to play , I do Gumrak a bit. Sometimes do Barracks or the Pavlov's house, but as marksman. Sometimes do Station and shoot from top story. Heroes of The West is hard to find servers, but wild action.

Have you tried Rising Storm Vietnam? Quite fun and much less frustrating than RO Heroes of Stalingrad in my opinion.

Yes I have Rising Storm Vietnam, but having been drafted for that war, I find it a bit odd to play. Hard to explain. It has been well done though.

I can't imagine how it feels to play a war you fought but I am sure it fosters ambivalent feelings. If you like squad play and WW2 combined try Battalion 1944. A bit like Arma and a tad like Squad. Not my cup of tea but I have watched you tube gameplay and it does not look bad at all.

I guess I am just glad they don't do the draft anymore. I know some countries it is mandatory that you serve at least 2 years.

Oh I tried it several times and was in the beta, but just too weird for me. I came here to this site looking for more tank sims. I have many, but each has its problems and good points, I will keep looking as there seems to be a lot of good info here.
Too bad Steel Beasts is so expensive. Thought Armored Warfare was going to be good, but after they dumped Obsidian it looks to be going downhill.

Here ;s another one worth checking. It's called Post Scriptum and includes over 40 realistically
    recreated WW2 armoured vehicles.
